Help and Frequently Asked Questions
The Story
One day, I had to face the facts: I had no idea how to dress myself. After going through old yearbooks and photographs, I came to the stunning realization that I needed serious help with my wardrobe. So, at first I did what most people would do. I went to others for advice. It was good, but limited.
So, I turned to the Internet. I put pictures of all my clothes up for everyone to see, and I'm asking for comments and suggestions for how to wear my clothes, and what to wear. This is where you come in: every day, I want you to vote on what I should wear for all my daily activities. I work a full-time job, and I have plenty of things to do afterwards, all of which require delicate clothes planning. First impressions are everything, right?
I hope I can trust you! Thanks in advance...
Why are you doing this?
I'm doing this because I really need help! Ask any of my friends and they will tell you: I'm hopeless!
Where are you from? What do you do? Tell me more about yourself!
I'm a single 23-year-old from Hoboken, NJ, only minutes away from Manhattan. Hoboken is a young "yuppie" town lined with bars, boutiques, and tanning salons. I just graduated college, moved into my own place, so in other words, I'm just starting out in the "real world". Every day is a new experience it seems, since I'm doing so many new things I never had to do before, like cook my own meals, pay an electric bill, or deal with office drama.
As far as a job goes, I work for a small Wealth Management firm in New Providence, NJ as an Operations Manager (www.lassuswherley.com ). I deal with computers and other office business. The unusual part about this is that besides me and my co-worker Charlie, the other 20 or so employees are middle-aged women. Talk about being a little out of place! It definitely makes things interesting on a day-to-day basis, though.
I'm always pretty open to talk if you want to learn more. You can learn a lot more about me on some websites that I'm a member of. I love friend requests, so feel free to list me as your friend!
Do you REALLY wear what people vote on?
Of course I do! Why would I make this site then? Even if it's completely ridiculous, yes, I'll wear it. I'm putting my faith in the Internet, so that won't happen often anyway, RIGHT?
Do I have to register to use your site?
No registration is necessary to view and vote every day. If you want to post comments, or use many of the new features of the site, you'll need to register. It only takes a few minutes to register.
OK - where is your underwear?
You don't get to see my underwear, so I don't list it on the site - and anyway, I only have two choices when it comes to underwear - either randomly patterned boxer shorts, or the 7 pairs of quality boxer-briefs sent to me by www.mbergin.com.
What happens if the winning votes don't match?
Surprisingly, they almost always do match. In some rare cases, it's just not possible to do certain things, however. For example, socks and sandals don't go together, so if sandals win, I might not wear socks (though I might anyway to humor you). Some shorts don't have beltloops for belts (like bathing suits). If an accessory like a necklace wins on a day that I might want to wear a tie or belt, I might add a tie or belt in with the necklace. This aspect of the site I am still trying to figure out, so this might change a little in the future.
What about really important events, like job interviews? Do you REALLY trust me to pick what you should wear?
Generally, yes. Sometimes, though, I need to take a break so I skip an event or two. I usually skip work clothes once or twice a week to allow more time for voting on after work affairs. So don't be upset if you don't see "wear to work" one day, as it will be back the next day.
You need new clothes!
I know! Some of my clothes are really old and I am fully aware that I need to get rid of them. I just don't know what to replace them with, and in the mean time, and need to wear something! I need suggestions, too, since I can only afford a few pieces of clothes each month because of my limited budget. So many people send me suggestions for what to buy, so I made a shopping page where you can vote on what I should buy on my future shopping trips. You can also email me if you are so inclined, kevin@dresskevin.com.
I am a designer / t-shirt maker / advertiser. How can I get on your site?
I won't charge you anything to list your clothes on my site, but I do need the clothes if they are going to be listed. Send me an email: kevin@ dresskevin.com
Anything else I might want to know?
Sure, here are a few odds and ends that might help you pick what I should wear:
I work on this site in my spare time, so I can't guarantee the professionalism you might expect from a more properly run website, so expect glitches now and then. I'm always open to suggestions, hints, and other ideas by email. If you're in the area, maybe you'll run into me. Send your emails to kevin @ dresskevin.com, and I'll personally respond to it.
